Description
This is an art print of the acrylic painting “What broke the cricket’s back”.
The Crau Plain Grasshopper (Criquet de Crau) exists only in the Crau (South of France) with only three sub populations left. As many other animals, it is listed as Critically Endangered. And it is highly adapted to its unique environment. This environment has changed a lot due to the transformation in farmland, orchards, olive cultivation and industry.
Laurent Tatin (Institut Méditerranéen de Biodiversité et d’Ecologie) and Eric Serre (animation studio Les Fées Spéciales) allowed me to use their incredible pictures and storyboards to create some artwork. (©Eric Serre [of original images I used]).
I have had this kind of concept in my mind already for some days (month) – an animal dissolving into dust, blown with the wind.
I want to raise awareness. I want to show that also the smallest among us matter. And in the best case I want to support the project SOS Life Criquet De Crau (https://www.lifecriquetdecrau.com/).
The size is A5 including the white frame.
Variants:
- With or without white frame
- High quality Perlino Cotton or affordable Unicorn white paper
50% of all profits are donated to conservation projects.
