First wildlife conservation donation!

Not every fundraiser or donation deserves (or receives) a post, but this one is special to me.

At the beginning of November, I had a test run with my first art prints at a local art market (organized by @ekatrier and @kunsthalletrier). Not only did I have wonderful conversations about local and global wildlife, but some of my art prints also found new homes! As I mentioned in my recent stories and on my website, a portion of the proceeds is going directly toward wildlife conservation.

This year, I heard about @explorersagainstextinction for the first time and learned about their incredible projects and efforts. The #SketchForSurvival initiative brought me much closer to this cause than I could have imagined at the start of the year.

Through my passion for painting, I was able to make my first donation. This means so much to me. 🙂

"We saw it coming" found a new home!

Yesterday ended the online auction for @explorersagainstextinction and my drawing raised £320 for wildlife conservation projects!

It was my second contest I participated in and I am so happy not only that the panel selected my drawing for the next rounds but also that it contributes to the amazing projects supporting vulnerable and endangered animals all over the world.

And some exciting news on top:

What would you do...

A lot of people were hyped because of "Deadpool and Wolverine" not only because Deadpool, played perfectly by @vancityreynolds, became iconic but also because of the return of THE Wolverine (@thehughjackman).
The involvement of the >Time Variance Authority< did not only brought a bunch of amazing characters and Deadpool and Wolverine variants (back) on the big screen but also raised one question:
What would you do, if you could change your timeline or anybody else's timeline? How far would you go to save your friends and family?
And who will adopt dogpool?

Just one more cut ... This is following the Crau

Just one more cut ...

This is following the Crau Plain Grasshopper showcasing the loss of sharks also due to something called "finning". My reference was the vulnerable lemon shark.

Although the exact numbers of sharks killed are difficult to estimate, a number of studies have drawn attention to the alarming volume of sharks overfished and killed solely for their fins worldwide, each year. Over 300 shark and ray species are Red listed as vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered by the IUCN.

Sketch for Survival 2024

On the 30th of October I was at @oxotowerwharf and could see my pangolin as part of the #sketchforsurvival2024 finalists. It was a special night to explore animals, learn about art styles and meet a lot of amazing people behind the pieces - either holding the brushes and pencils or - much more important - to support all of that craziness.

All of the pieces will help funding the projects from Explorers Against Extinction!

Microraptor gui This piece has a lot of similarit

Microraptor gui

This piece has a lot of similarities with my pangolin - same scene, same style, same medium. Although it is already extinct and not at the brink of extinction, I liked to depict this animal in a similar way and waited for feedback.
Because of its feathery appearance, it might look like an extant animal but if you look closer, you can see some characteristics that are distinct from modern birds, for example.
At the moment, I am trying to explore this style for different animals in different terrains. But especially when they are not living on trees, it seems rather difficult for me...

The original found a new home already but some modified new ones are already planned. 🙂

Ferrodraco lentoni

This pterosaur lived during the Late Cretaceous (96 to 90 mya) in what is now Australia.

When I saw the skeletal reconstruction and animation by @palaeoastrid, I felt inspired to create at least one painting based on the amazing reference material. With #TetZooCon in mind, I aimed to finish it in time for the event.
Although I stepped out of my comfort zone with this composition and focusing more on the environment, I’m quite happy with the result. I learned a lot during our exchange, and I was pleased that the visitors appreciated the analog version (flipbook) of the digital animation. 😊
